Knox County Adult High School

Evening Program updated 10/08/2009

The Knox County Adult High School Evening Program is an innovative diploma program that allows self-motivated students who must work during the day to earn a diploma in the evenings. The evening program features open entry and open exit. Each student, much like a traditional high school, is assigned to a teacher for each subject.

Students are required to have an entrance interview before beginning coursework. Each student’s transcript is analyzed and requirements are determined. The KCAHS evening program is open to any students eighteen years or older.

Students may begin any time of the year after the entrance interview. Students may graduate anytime when requirements are completed. Students may immediately receive an updated transcript; however, actual diplomas are only awarded at or after the graduation ceremony in May.

The KCAHS Evening Program also offers a credit recovery program. Students enrolled in regular Knox County Schools can, with the permission and recommendation of their guidance councelor, attend evening classes to gain additional credits required for graduation from their base school.

Classes are from 5:00 to 8:20 on Monday through Thursday.
