Internet Access at Knox County Adult High School
|
Knox County Adult High School maintains a quality computer network that allows all students to have access to a computer at anytime during school hours. All computers are linked to the internet; however, we control internet access in two ways. 1 – Knox County Adult High School computers allow access to the internet. The ENA (Education Networks of America) provides internet access and maintains a filter that is mandated by the state. Students at Knox County Adult High School do NOT have unfiltered access to the internet. Students are NOT to try to defeat this filter. Altering any program on a Knox County Adult High School computer, or trying to defeat the internet filter, can result in a loss of computer privileges. KCAHS faculty cannot override this filter. 2 – In the classrooms the computers have an additional filter which allows access to the internet, but only to sites pre-selected and approved by the faculty. This allows students, working independently, to access valuable internet information without being distracted by other sites. Students are NOT to try to defeat this program. Altering any program on a Knox County Adult High School computer can result in a loss of computer privileges. KCAHS faculty can override this filter to allow students to search the internet when required for an assignment. To the right is a dynamic list of approved sites. |
