Parents, Spouses, & Children
"These education policies will open the doors of opportunity for our children. But it is up to us to ensure they walk through them. In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner or turn off the TV, put away the video games and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a president, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home." - President Obama 2/24/2009
There is a myth that parents aren't needed or wanted in high schools, especially adult high schools.
Not so, at Knox County Adult High School!
Academic Support
Parents (also spouses and children) can play a critical role in the academic success of their children, even if their children happen to be adults. There must be a partnership between the school and the home if students are to reach their maximum potential. Parents, or other family members, are encouraged to call the school whenever there are academic concerns so that these concerns, with the permission of the adult students, can be addressed as quickly as possible.
